The practitioner's summit

The 2027 program is being designed for people who arrive with real problems, live challenges, and questions shaped by experience, who are seeking peers who are navigating similar terrain.

Location

Montréal, Québec

The 2027 Summit will take place just outside Montréal. We’ve chosen this for the location as it is home to a growing systemic investing community exploring many opportunities to test the practice of systemic investing in real contexts.

The beautiful lakeside setting has been chosen to support the design of the Summit and its focus on presence, openness and meaningful exchange. Alongside deep engagement around the ideas, movement will be built into the agenda, creating conditions for real connection.

Recognizing the history of the land around us, we will—as in Brazil—ensure perspectives from Indigenous communities are embedded into the program.

THE PROGRAM

Beyond the why. Beyond the what. Into the how.

The field of systemic investing has momentum. More people than ever are interested in and curious about the practice, and more frameworks, toolkits, and case studies exist than ever before.

The question we are asking now is not why invest systemically, or even what systemic investing is; it’s how to actually do it.

Summit 2027 is built around that question. It is a practitioner’s Summit, designed for people who arrive with real problems, live challenges, and questions shaped by experience, who are seeking peers who are navigating similar terrain.

The content will fall into one of two themes:

  1. What we know. Distilling and sharing learnings from existing practice: tested approaches, worked examples, case studies, and honest accounts of what has worked, what hasn’t, and why.
  2. What we don’t know yet. Structured exploration of the open questions the field is still working through—workshops, sandbox activities, and collaborative design, with the people best placed to make progress on them together in one room.

Three principles will shape the experience:

  1. The How. We centre on the practical mechanics of systemic investing: the tools, methods, and frameworks that move practitioners from intent to action.
  2. Scaling deep. Rather than scaling wide, we create the space and structure to deepen relationships and practice, rigorous content, genuine trust-building, and protected time for productive conversations.
  3. Growing local roots. As we saw in Rio in 2026, the Summit can galvanize the host city’s ecosystem. Canada’s emerging community of systemic investors provides fertile ground for Summit 2027, and we will design the event with Canadian culture, perspectives, and thematic priorities embedded throughout.

WHO IS THE SUMMIT FOR?

Summit 2027 is invite-only.

We don’t say this to be exclusive for its own sake. We say it because the purpose of this Summit depends on who is in the room.

Summit 2027 is designed for experienced practitioners: investors, fund managers, foundations, and other innovators who are already committed to systemic approaches and are actively grappling with the “how” in their own work.

Attendees will come ready to work on specific challenges alongside others. The agenda will prioritize peer-to-peer exchange, applied problem-solving, and protected time for relationship-building, rather than introductory content.

Participation is by invitation or by application, and we expect demand to exceed the number of places available. In shaping the invitation list, we pay attention to:

  • Depth of practice, a bias for action, and active engagement in pushing the boundaries of the theory and practice of systemic investing
  • Connectedness to the field, existing relationships with, and understanding of, the systemic investing community and its frameworks
  • Pioneers and elders of the field, practitioners from Global South contexts, and those bringing institutional capital into systems change
  • Diversity of thought, geography, gender, race, lived experience, and area of work

Capacity

Summit 2027 is capped at 300 attendees. In every previous year we have set a cap, the Summit has sold out, and we expect the same this year. This is a deliberate limit, not a target: the Summit works because the room is small enough for genuine relationship-building and focused, practical exchange, and that only holds below a certain size.

Attendance is by invitation. If you’ve been invited or nominated, please confirm your place promptly, as holds are extended for a limited period before they’re released to others on the waitlist.

To keep the room balanced across the field rather than concentrated in a few institutions, we’re limiting attendance to a maximum of two people per organization.

New to the field?

If you're new to systemic investing and looking to learn the fundamentals, the Summit probably isn't the right fit—but we're developing other ways for you to engage, and we'll share more on those soon. However, if you're already doing this work but perhaps using different language to describe it, we'd love to hear from you.
